Hardscaping & Patios in Maplewood
A paver patio is only as good as the base under it, and that matters a lot on Maplewood’s clay. Clay holds water and shifts when it freezes, so a patio set on dirt heaves and goes uneven within a couple seasons. We excavate down, lay and compact a proper gravel base, set the screeded sand bed, then lock the pavers in and compact again. Built that way, the surface stays flat and drains instead of pooling.
We grade every patio, walkway, and retaining wall to send water away from the house, which is the same problem the newer parkway lots already fight with their compacted fill.
A patio works best designed alongside the beds, so it pairs naturally with our landscape design and the mulch installation that frames it. See past projects on our hardscaping and patios page, or the Maplewood hub.
