Hardscaping & Patios in Fairview
A paver patio or walkway is only as good as the base under it, and Fairview’s clay soil is unforgiving of shortcuts. Clay holds water, and water that freezes and thaws will heave a patio that was set straight on the ground, leaving the lifted, rocking, weed-filled joints you see on jobs built in a hurry. The newer lots on the edge of town are mostly compacted clay fill, so the base work there is the whole job.
We build from the bottom up. We excavate deep enough for a real foundation, lay and compact a crushed-stone base in lifts so it cannot settle later, set the pavers on a screeded bedding layer, and lock the edges so they cannot creep.
Pitched to Drain, Built to Stay Flat
Every patio and walkway gets a slight pitch built in to carry water away from the house instead of toward the foundation, and we sweep polymeric sand into the joints to lock the pavers and slow the weeds. Done right, the surface stays flat and level through the freeze-thaw seasons that wreck a thrown-together job.
