Lawn Disease Control in Lakeside
Lakeside lawns stay wet longer than most, and fungus loves that. Moisture coming off Crescent Lake keeps the grass damp into the morning, and under the mature maples the shaded slopes sometimes never fully dry. Add a humid summer stretch and you get the circles and patches that fungal disease leaves behind: brown patch, dollar spot, and red thread are the regulars we see here.
Reading the Lawn
Each disease has a tell. Brown patch throws large irregular circles in the heat, dollar spot scatters small silver-dollar spots that run together, and red thread leaves pink threads at the tips on lawns short on nitrogen. We identify what is present before treating, because the fix depends on the disease. Half the battle is cultural: watering early so the grass dries by midday, cutting with a sharp blade to avoid frayed wounds, and clearing thatch that traps humidity. When a fungicide is warranted we apply it at label rates as a licensed applicator.
Disease often rides along with heavy thatch and overfeeding, so we look at your fertilization timing too. More on the lawn disease control page and the Lakeside hub.
