Weed Control in Lakeside
Weeds in Lakeside follow the sun. The open lots between the lake and Route 9 bake in summer and grow crabgrass along every hot edge by the driveway, while the thin shaded turf under the maples and oaks leaves enough bare ground for broadleaf weeds to move in. Different weeds need different timing, and that is the whole game.
Two Jobs, Two Windows
Crabgrass is a seed problem, so we stop it before it sprouts with a pre-emergent laid down in early spring before soil temperatures climb. Miss that window and you are chasing it all summer. Broadleaf weeds like dandelion, clover, and plantain are already growing, so those get a post-emergent applied to the leaf while they are actively taking up. We follow label rates as a licensed applicator and spot-treat where it makes sense instead of blanketing a whole lawn.
The real fix for weeds, though, is a thick lawn that crowds them out, which is why fertilization and aeration and overseeding do half the work. More on the weed control page and the Lakeside hub.
