Dethatching in Lakeside
Thatch builds fastest where lawns grow slow and stay damp, which describes most of the shaded turf under Lakeside’s maples and oaks. Thatch is the spongy layer of dead stems and roots that collects between the green grass and the soil. A thin layer is normal and even helpful, but once it passes a half inch it sheds water before it reaches the roots and turns the lawn springy underfoot.
